LA Boxing Franchisee Expands to 7 Locations in the Chicago Metro Area
SANTA ANA, CA--(LAB NEWS WIRE)-January 9, 2009-LA Boxing Franchise Corporation, a national operator of distinctive cardio boxing, kickboxing and MMA health and fitness gyms, announced today that it is awarding an additional 3 exclusive franchise territories within the Chicago Metro area to Omar Rudaini. Mr. Rudaini, an LA Boxing Area Developer, has expanded to 7 franchise locations in less than 2 years. The Southern California-based LA BOXING Franchise Corporation continues its fast-paced expansion, taking the franchise company to 120 units in 23 states and Puerto Rico.Spurred by the faltering economy, corporate downsizings are producing a pool of seasoned managers and executives considering self-employment. The once well-compensated baby boomers are also facing tough competition from younger, less experienced job candidates willing to work for lower pay.
"I know that the economy has been a deterrent to some franchise companies, but we have not been negatively impacted," said Anthony Geisler, President of LA BOXING Franchise Corporation.
"My experience is that there are always businesses that will do well in a recession," said Carl Kosnar, Managing Partner of The Kosnar Group, franchise development consultants. "I have been in the franchise development business for over 30 years and have witnessed this trend at least a half dozen times. The ranks of out-of-work people are filled with executives that never want to work for anyone again," he added.
"The franchising business is also getting a boost from good property leasing deals. A year and a half ago, it would have been impossible for some of our franchisees to lease certain desirable properties. Not only can they lease these properties now but also, the terms are also far better, Kosnar said. "These advantageous leases are reflected in our 2008 'same-store' sales that are up over 2007 and 2008, which were banner years for LA Boxing," he added.
One of the areas seeing an increase in franchise sales is the health and fitness services segment, according to the International Franchise Association.
"Rather surprisingly, we are seeing an overall increase in membership sales and attention being paid to one's general health and fitness in this economic climate. It seems as though people are concentrating on the truly important things in life, and health is certainly the number one personal concern for everyone," said Geisler.
"The economic climate does not seem to be deterring prospective LA BOXING franchisees in the New Year. LA Boxing will be opening four new franchised gyms nationwide and is on pace to sell 5 new franchises in January 2009. We are forecasting 2009 to be a very good growth year for our franchise system with plans to award Master Franchises for at least 6 countries next year," said Kosnar."
